Company profile:
První veřejnoprávní s.r.o. has been founded in 2000 by film and TV producer Čestmír Kopecký, who is still the main owner and in charge as company director.
Since 2000 the company is premiering from 1 to 3 titles every year. Their genres range from full-length feature films to documentaries.
The company focuses on the auteur approach in its films as well as on providing the promising young czech filmmakers a possibility to realize their full-length cinematic debut.
Among directors working continually for the company, the well critically-acclaimed authors such as Martin Šulík, Petr Zelenka, Vladimír Morávek or Andrej Krob should be mentionned.
Čestmír Kopecký's biography:
After studies of production at Film and TV faculty, Academy of performing arts, Prague (FAMU) he worked for over 20 years at Czech Television. At the ČT he produced award winning films Knoflíkáři (Buttoners), Marian and Záhrada (The Garden) among others. He also produced documentaries, animation films and TV programmes. After leaving Czech television, Kopecký created his own film production house, První veřejnoprávní, in 2000. The company is focusing on auteur cinema and first films.
Kopecký has been awarded many times for his work. He was most notably provided twice the Prize "Kristian" for Best producer. The prize is annually delivered by the Czech film critics circle.
